François Reverdy is a young, driven vigneron rooted deeply in the history of Sancerre, where his family's presence dates back to the early 1700s. Both of his grandfathers were vignerons, while his father, a geologist, passed on a fascination with soils and their influence on wine. Though never pushed into the family trade, François found his own path early, working in the vines from the age of 16 and developing a passion that would shape his life. He went on to spend many years managing an independent family estate in Bordeaux before returning to the Loire to create something entirely his own. In 2022, he launched two micro-estates: one in Sancerre, and another between Saumur and Chinon, working between two small cellars several hours apart. Today, François is the smallest producer in Sancerre, farming just one hectare of 30-year-old vines in Kimmeridgian marl soils in Verdigny, land passed down through his grandmother and deeply tied to his family's roots. Alongside this, he works with small parcels in Chinon and Saumur, focusing on Chenin Blanc, Caberent Franc, and old-vine Grolleau Noir. He farms his 4 hectares biodynamically and works almost entirely on his own, moving constantly between regions, fully immersed in every detail. In both vineyard and cellar, his approach is precise and expressive, with lees aging and minimal intervention bringing texture, energy, and a vivid sense of place to each wine.

françois reverdy quincy
100% sauvignon blanc The François Reverdy Quincy comes from a single 0.6-hectare plot of 45-year-old vines planted on an ancient terrace above the Cher River, with a mosaic of gravel and marl soils. Farmed at low yields, the grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning, carefully sorted, and gently pressed as whole clusters. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 months on fine lees in tank, then lightly fined and filtered before bottling at the end of August 2024, followed by extended bottle aging prior to release. This additional lees aging brings both depth and texture to the wine, while preserving its freshness and aromatic clarity. Notes of small yellow plum and light herbal tones carry through a layered palate, with a balance of weight and lift that reflects both the old vines and the terrace soils. |
françois reverday sancerre 'les villaudes'
100% sauvignon blanc The François Reverdy Sancerre “Les Villaudes” comes from a single 0.88 hectare parcel of 30-year-old vines rooted in Kimmeridgian marl, rich with fossilized limestone. Hand-harvested in the early morning and carefully sorted, the grapes are gently pressed as whole clusters and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation is avoided, with one racking before aging for 7 months on fine lees in tank. The wine is lightly fined and filtered, then was bottled in June or 2024, followed by 3 months of bottle aging prior to release. Produced from a single 29 hL tank, this cuvée reflects both precision and texture. The palate shows a layered, mineral-driven profile with a distinct sense of weight and persistence, balanced by focused acidity and purity. Expressive fruit remains present, but always framed by the underlying limestone, giving the wine a long, structured, and deeply site-driven finish. |

françois reverdy saumur
100% chenin blanc The François Reverdy Saumur Blanc is sourced from 20 to 80 year-old Chenin Blanc vines rooted in tufa soils of limestone bedrock and green chalk. Hand-harvested in the early morning and carefully sorted, the grapes are pressed gently as whole clusters and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve precision, and the wine sees a single racking before aging for 4 months on fine lees in tank. It is lightly fined and filtered, then rests in bottle for an additional 3 months prior to release. This approach emphasizes clarity and tension, allowing Chenin Blanc to fully express its site. The wine shows mineral-driven depth with notes of tree fruit, wet stone, and subtle earthy tones, while the palate is focused and energetic, with pure, driving acidity and a long, persistent finish. |
françois reverdy grolleau noir
100% grolleau noir The François Reverdy VdF Grolleau comes from 25-year-old vines rooted in schist soils, harvested at moderate ripeness to preserve freshness and structure. The grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning, sorted, and fermented as whole clusters with native yeasts using full carbonic maceration in stainless steel for 10 days. No pump overs are used, and the wine sees no sulfur additions until bottling. After two rackings, it is aged for 6 months in tank, bottled without fining or filtration, and rests an additional 6 months before release. This approach highlights the natural character of Grolleau, bringing forward its spice and aromatic complexity. The nose shows cedar, sandalwood, and layered peppercorn notes, while the palate delivers brambly, thorny fruit with a balance of grip and juiciness, finishing with energy and persistence. |

françois reverdy chinon cravant-les-coteaux
100% cabernet franc The François Reverdy Cravant Chinon comes from 50-year-old Cabernet Franc vines rooted in the sand and gravel soils of Cravant-les-Côteaux. Hand harvested in the early morning and carefully sorted, the grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in tank over 7 to 10 days with gentle pump overs. After a single racking, the wine is aged for 12 months in used 228L French oak barrels, followed by natural clarification and a light filtration prior to bottling. This approach preserves both purity and structure, allowing Cabernet Franc to show its full range. The wine opens with brambly spice and lifted aromatics, while the palate carries a balanced weight and texture, framed by freshness and mineral tension. A long, composed finish reflects both the site and the measured élevage. |
