Nestled in the Jura, Domaine Grand is a story of family, passion, and an unwavering commitment to the land. The domaine officially took shape in 1970, when André Grand and his brothers expanded the family vineyards to 25 hectares, fully dedicating themselves to viticulture - building on the foundation laid by their father, René Grand. This set the stage for the next generation to carry the domain forward. In 2011, Emmanuel Grand (André's son) and Nathalie Morin took the reins, bringing a new vision to the estate. With deep roots in Jura wine - Emmanuel continuing his family's legacy and Nathalie coming from a line of winemakers in Arbois - they sought to refine the domaine's focus. By 2015, they had carefully selected the finest 11 hectares to farm organically, prioritizing sustainability, precision, and the purest expression of their terroir. Their vineyards stretch from Arbois to Château-Chalon, with the majority surrounding their home, featuring vines ranging from 25-50 years old to a remarkable century-old plot. Specializing in Chardonnay, Savagnin (both ouillé and oxidative), Trousseau, and Pinot Noir, Domaine Grand produces around 45,000 bottles annually. With Nathalie leading the work in the vineyards and Emmanuel in the cellar, they handle everything themselves - practicing organic farming, aging in old barrels, and using only minimal sulfites at pressing. Shaped by the Jura's challenging climate, their wines are pure, expressive, and deeply compelling.
domaine grand crémant du jura zero dosage
100% chardonnay The Domaine Grand Crémant du Jura Dosage Zero is a beautifully intricate sparkling Chardonnay, crafted from a single parcel called Les Duboîtes, where 30-year-old vines thrive on Jura’s distinctive clay and limestone soils. A blend of typically three vintages, the base wine consists of 80% reserve cuvée (kept in stainless steel) and 20% from the current harvest, ensuring a depth of character and consistency. Fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel, preserving freshness and precision. The blended wine then rests on lees for 2 to 2.5 years before disgorgement, allowing for exceptional complexity and texture. True to its name, this Crémant sees no dosage, highlighting its pure expression and mineral-driven structure. With an incredible mouthfeel, this wine is both layered and deeply expressive, showcasing bright citrus, green apple, almond, and delicate brioche notes. The finish is long, precise, and refreshingly crisp, making it a benchmark example of Jura’s ability to produce elegant, terroir-driven sparkling wines. domaine grand 'cuvée tradition'
chardonnay & savagnin The Domaine Grand ‘Cuvée Tradition’ is a stunning blend of 66% Chardonnay and 34% Savagnin and is a true expression of Jura’s winemaking heritage. The Chardonnay (grown on gray limestone) and the Savagnin (gray marl) are both 35-year vines on average. Hand-harvested, the varieties are fermented separately in steel vats before undergoing distinct aging processes. The Chardonnay is aged ouillé style (topped up) for 3 years in tank, maintaining its purity and freshness. The Savagnin, in contrast, is aged sous voile (under flor) for 3 years in old 228L barrels, where natural yeast forms, encouraged by seasonal temperature fluctuations in the winery’s semi-underground cellar in Passenans—a technique passed down for generations. The two wines come together for a month before bottling, and the result is a captivating fusion of power and finesse. The fruity smoothness of the Chardonnay enhances the bold, structured elegance of the Savagnin. The aromatics are off the charts—peach nectar, pine sap, preserved stone fruits, and honey, all wrapped in a textured, gripping mouthfeel. A truly cool and expressive Jura cuvée. |
domaine grand côtes du jura chardonnay
100% chardonnay The Domaine Grand Côtes du Jura Chardonnay, sourced from 25–40-year-old massale selection vines, thrives on red marl, clay, and limestone soils, capturing the distinctive minerality of the Jura. Hand-harvested at full maturity, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks using a pied de cuve to ensure a strong, complete fermentation, mitigating any risk of volatile acidity from the ripe fruit. Aged for one year in old 228L Burgundy barrels in the ouillé style (topped-up every 3 days to prevent oxidation), the wine sees no racking, minimal sulfites at harvest (5 g/hl), and no added sulfur before bottling. It is lightly plate-filtered but unfined, preserving its purity and depth. The result is a textural, layered Chardonnay that balances its rich, honeyed, ripe fruit profile, with Jura’s hallmark freshness. Aromas of golden apple, pear skin, toasted hazelnuts, and crushed limestone lead to a palate that is round yet so very vibrant, with a long, saline-driven finish. domaine grand arbois trousseau
100% trousseau The Domaine Grand Arbois Trousseau comes from 25-year-old vines of Trousseau à la Dame (maybe the best biotype), truly embodying the essence of Arbois terroir. Grown on a complex mosaic of grey marl and iridescent red marl from the Upper Triassic, with influences from a dolomitic bed, the site brings precision and mineral depth to the fruit. Hand-harvested with meticulous berry selection, the grapes are fully destemmed and undergo fermentation in tank, and at total of six-months maceration before pressing, stabilizing the color and intensifying structure. Gentle pump-overs twice daily are routine, and then followed by a year of aging in vat to preserve purity and vibrancy. Unfined, with only a light plate filtration before bottling, this Trousseau expresses silky red fruit, spice, and Jura’s signature earthiness, all wrapped in a framework of finesse and energy. The aromatics are deeply complex, yet full of life with blue fruits and perfectly ripe red cherries, followed by a light, dainty mouthfeel but with so much grip and savory, earthy dark fruit. domaine grand chateau-chalon vin jaune
100% savagnin The 2017 Domaine Grand Château-Chalon Vin Jaune is a powerful expression of Jura’s most storied appellation, born from 45-year-old Savagnin vines rooted in limestone and gray marl. The estate works the land by hand, using pickaxes to navigate the dense, rocky soils. Yields are low at 45 hl/ha, ensuring concentration and purity. After a slow 3-hour press and fermentation in a tank, the wine spends a year in a vat before aging sous voile for six years in 25-year-old 228L barrels. With no topping up, 40% of the volume evaporates over the years, making for a significant "angel’s share”, and allowing oxygen and native yeasts to sculpt its intense golden hue and complex aromas of walnut, curry spice, and salted hazelnuts. Blended back in vat for a month rest, the wine is bottled without fining, and this Vin Jaune carries the depth, energy, and oxidative beauty that define the timeless wines of Château-Chalon. |
domaine grand savagnin 'en guille-bouton'
100% savagnin The Domaine Grand Arbois Savagnin ‘En Guille Bouton’ is a deeply personal cuvée, sourced from a plot planted 25 years ago by Nathalie and her family—a vineyard she never imagined she would one day craft into wine with her husband. These massale selection vines thrive in gray marl soils, producing a wine of striking complexity and character. Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo a gentle two-hour press before fermentation begins in stainless steel. About halfway through, the wine is transferred to old 350L barrels to complete fermentation and mature for 12 months. The ouillé (topped-up) aging process preserves freshness while avoiding oxidation. Only a touch of sulfur is used at all (after destemming), with no fining, and a light plate filtration to ensure clarity without compromising texture. This Savagnin is spicy, savory, and deeply mineral, carrying an almost cheesy and herbal flare that lingers on the palate. The texture is layered and profound, with an incredibly long, saline finish that captures the Jura’s terroir-driven essence. domaine grand pinot noir 'en prêle'
100% pinot noir The Domaine Grand ‘En Prêle’ Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir comes from 25-year-old vines of Pinot Noir à grain fin, a finer-berried and more delicate biotype that thrives in the Jura’s clay and limestone soils. The fruit is hand-harvested with rigorous berry selection in the vineyard and on the sorting table before being fully destemmed. A five-day cold maceration precedes fermentation, with six months of skin contact in infusion tanks at warmer temperatures to enhance texture and depth. Twice-daily pump-overs maintain balance before pressing. Malolactic fermentation takes about a month to complete, and the wine is aged 14 months in neutral 228L barrels, with topping up every four days to prevent oxidation. Bottled unfined and lightly plate-filtered, this Pinot Noir shows vibrant red cherry, wild strawberry, and floral aromatics, layered with earthy mushroom, dried herbs, and a mineral-driven finish, all framed by Jura’s signature tension and finesse. |
It's all about art... |
Domaine Grand’s labels are a striking fusion of art and terroir, crafted through a unique collaboration between renowned French artist Bast and designer Joachim Werner. A true admirer of the estate’s wines, Bast was so inspired that he reached out to create a piece specifically for them—resulting in a bold, textured masterpiece that captured the spirit of Domaine Grand. Joachim Werner then meticulously deconstructed this large-scale work, isolating distinct sections to represent each individual cuvée while preserving the estate’s historic design language. Staying true to Domaine Grand’s tradition, he wove in the iconic oval motif that has long defined their visual identity, shaping each label’s composition through variations of this form. The result is a visually cohesive yet individually expressive set of labels, where every wine carries a fragment of the larger artistic vision—an approach that mirrors the estate’s commitment to expressing terroir in its purest form. |
